When Jase Richardson went down holding his ankle near the end of the Samford win last week, fans were holding their breath. He was one of the bright spots on a 4-1 team about to head into its toughest stretch of the early season at the Maui Invitational.

Losing Richardson could derail a season because he's been one of the best freshmen in college hoops and he continues to impress game in and game out.

Richardson truly has become the team's sixth man.

Well, the Spartans got some good news on Monday afternoon when Jon Rothstein reported that Richardson is going to be available against Colorado for the Spartans' contest at 5 p.m. ET.

This comes as a bit of a surprise given the way Richardson went down in a seemingly contact-less way last week, but it looks like he just tweaked it and got the treatment he needed all week as well as some rest from practice the day after the Samford game. He's recovered nicely and will be good to go against the Buffaloes on Monday.

As you can imagine, this is massive news given the fact that he's been the best and most consistent player off the bench this season maybe outside of Coen Carr.

Richardson is averaging 8.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 63 percent from the floor, 50 percent from deep, and 100 percent from the charity stripe.

If Michigan State wants to have a chance at making some noise at the Maui Invitational against teams like UConn, Memphis, Iowa State, Auburn, or North Carolina, Richardson needs to be healthy. Fortunately for Tom Izzo and Co., he seems to be just that.
