The NBA Combine is underway in Wintrust Arena in Chicago, and future NBA stars are showing up and showing out to try and help their draft position in a month. Players like Jase Richardson, who are still trying to decide if they want to go to the NBA or stay in college for another season, are able to gauge interest from teams based on he draft and also help raise their stock.
Richardson is already impressing at the combine, though. Even though his original measurements were not the most desirable, as the freshman guard came in at 6-foot-0.5, weighing 178.5 pounds with a wingspan of 6-foot-6 and an 8-foot-2.5 standing reach. Richardson's height could hurt his stock a little, but he is making up for it with his shooting ability.
Right now, Richardson has one of the best shooting percentages at the combine based on the number of shot attempts he has put up. He is currently shooting 56% from the floor, which top 10 in the combine.
Richardson's shooting percentage is one of the strongest parts of his game. At Michigan State, even though he averaged just over 12 points a game, when he was taking a shot, he rarely missed. The young freshman had a 49.3 shooting percentage in his one college season and shot 41.2% from deep range.
Videos of Richardson shooting at the combine have come out, and his shot looks better than ever. His form is tight, and the arc on the shot is exactly as it should be, nice and high.
Richardson could decide to withdraw from the NBA Draft process; he has till May 28 to do so, but he could also take his chances in the NBA. Some would say maybe another season in college could give him more time to craft his talents and become an even stronger player, or he could go on and work with NBA coaches and learn even more there.
