Jase Richardson was back in Michigan this weekend as his Orlando Magic took on the Pistons at Little Caesars Arena, and both Tom Izzo and Jaden Akins were in attendance to cheer on their guy.
Although he didn’t appear against the Pistons (kind of a missed opportunity by the Magic to show Jase some love in front of the Detroit crowd), he still got to catch up with Izzo and Akins. It was cool to see the two show love to Richardson even though he didn’t play a minute.
Richardson has had a quiet rookie year so far with the Magic, but he hasn’t gotten a ton of opportunities. When he does play, he takes full advantage. In fact, he’s scored 25 points combined in his last two appearances in 31 total minutes. In those two games, he’s shooting 9-for-16 from the floor and 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
With a little more time, Richardson is going to be a really good NBA player.
Although he’s not longer at Michigan State, Richardson remains one of the most beloved Spartans in recent memory, and that’s because he helped Izzo win a Big Ten title, sweep Michigan, and make it to the Elite Eight in his lone season in East Lansing.
Though he’s played just two games against the rival Wolverines, he still embraced the hatred, and it apparently still flows through him much like Draymond Green (not as intense), Miles Bridges, and other NBA Spartans.
So when Michigan lost to Ohio State in “The Game” on Saturday afternoon, Richardson wasted no time trolling the Wolverines — and they didn’t take too kindly to it.
Just look at what he posted on his Instagram story:

Clearly Richardson knows how to get under Michigan fans’ skin because they responded to this screenshot with plenty of hate. Obviously Michigan State doesn’t have a ton to say about football, but Richardson is 2-0 against the Wolverines during his time in East Lansing, so the trolling stands.
It’s easy to see why Michigan State fans love Richardson, and he’s only adding to his lore with trolling like this. He’s one of us.
