We are less than two weeks from NBA Summer League action and one former Michigan State star has yet to announce a deal yet. Jaden Akins didn't hear his name called during the 2025 NBA Draft and many expected him to sign with a team shortly after, but he hasn't announced anything.
While no one expected Akins to get drafted, it was assumed that he'd have a new home shortly after the NBA draft, especially with Mady Sissoko getting a phone call as an undrafted free agent.
This tweet pretty much speaks for all of us as we head into the month of July:
How has Jaden Akins not gotten signed yet. This is an atrocity. #MyWW3

Akins' inconsistency likely led to him not being drafted but he has the tools to be an NBA player from his athleticism to his shooting touch to his plus defending ability. He can do a little of everything, yet no team has made it official that they've signed him to their Summer League team yet.
I have heard rumblings behind the scenes that Akins could be participating in the Summer League with a familiar face, but nothing is official yet so I'm not going to break any news here.
However, it's been four days since the NBA Draft concluded and nothing has been announced or made official yet. We know agents are working around the clock to get their guys signed after the draft, but it shouldn't be this difficult to sign Akins who has to be considered one of the lowest-risk, highest-reward players in this class of undrafted free agents.
