Last weekend, a report surfaced regarding an injury to a key Michigan State offensive weapon. Jack Velling, the Spartans' starting tight end, was reportedly hampered by a foot injury but was expecting to return "soon".

Bud Elliott reported this on his Cover 3 Podcast, but that was last weekend. Things have moved in a positive direction since, according to Dave Revsine.

It was reported earlier this week by Jonathan Smith that Velling had returned to practice after dealing with an injury. That was a huge update from the head coach, but it didn't mean much if he wasn't going through contact drills or going full speed at practice.

Well, Revsine hinted that Velling is healthy now that he's back at practice with some video proof.

Velling is one of the best tight ends in the Big Ten, and although he saw his touchdown numbers dip in 2024 from his breakout 2023 season with Oregon State, he's projected to be one of the nation's best. He just needs to stay consistent, develop that connection with Aidan Chiles more, and stay healthy.

The senior tight end from Seattle still managed to catch a career-high 36 passes for 411 yards and his lone touchdown came in the final game of the regular season.

If Michigan State's offense is going to take off this season, it's going to be because Velling lives up to his potential and has an All-Big Ten (and potentially All-American) type campaign.

Seeing him back at practice and running routes without showing any limp or favoring a certain side is a positive development. I'd be shocked if he missed any time to start the year.
