NBA Summer League play has already come and passed, and a handful of former Michigan State basketball stars happened to partake.

There was the obvious participant, Jase Richardson, who was selected No. 25 overall by the Orlando Magic in this year's NBA Draft. He joined the Magic's Summer League roster and played well, turning in some highlight plays that had Orlando fans on the edge of their seats.

Alongside Richardson with the Magic was Jaden Akins. The former Michigan State guard and 1,000-point scorer didn't play nearly as much as he would've hoped, but he ended on a high note. He and Richardson were supposed to be joined by Marcus Bingham Jr., but he signed a deal overseas shortly after joining Orlando's Summer League roster.

Frankie Fidler signed with the Milwaukee Bucks' Summer League team as well.

As for former Spartans, AJ Hoggard saw action with the New Orleans Pelicans, and Mady Sissoko was on Oklahoma City's Summer League roster.

How did they all fare, numbers-wise?

Jase Richardson (Magic): 16.5 points, 2.5 assists, 56% shooting
Jaden Akins (Magic): 5.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, 33% shooting
Frankie Fidler (Bucks): Did not see action
AJ Hoggard (Pelicans): 2.0 points, 1.7 rebounds, 29% shooting
Mady Sissoko (Thunder): 4.4 points, 4.2 rebounds

Jase was clearly the best of the bunch as the group's only NBA Draft selection, but Akins had a solid game to finish Summer League play, and Sissoko had a 13-point performance to start his. It's unfortunate that Fidler didn't even get a chance to show what he could do.

What this tells me is that Richardson is going to have a long, successful NBA career ahead.
