Tom Izzo has had himself quite a month so far.
The Hall of Fame head coach kicked off the 2025-26 season with a couple of tough preseason games against Bowling Green and UConn (OK, that was October, but the point still stands), he led the Spartans to a win over No. 14 Arkansas in a fun non-conference home game, and then he wrapped things up with two huge recruiting victories.
The first was the commitment of top-35 shooting guard Jasiah Jervis followed by five-star center Ethan Taylor who joined the 2026 class last Friday.
The Taylor commitment was essentially the final domino in the class, and it was one that Izzo worked hard for. He now has a four-man class that’s ranked No. 1 in the nation.
It’s safe to say Taylor’s commitment to the Spartans caused some waves around the college basketball recruiting world, and he’s already signed and part of the 2026 class officially. After he committed, Joe Tipton shared a hilarious picture of the five-star center with his future head coach during his official visit.
Apparently Izzo had Taylor over during his official to cook some pizzas, and the two donned some chef hats to create one of the best pictures you’re ever going to see of the Hall of Famer.
Here are some fun photos that I think Michigan State fans will enjoy.

While on his visit, Ethan Taylor made pizzas with Tom Izzo.
Oh, and some great shots of him crowd surfing — all 7-foot-1 of him. https://t.co/SreeOaASmR pic.twitter.com/Ar98UpgfXX
Izzo is just a good sport off the court. When he’s not fired up about his team before, during, or after a game, he’s usually finding ways to lighten up. Making pizzas with his future center while wearing chef hats was just prime offseason Izzo.
There’s zero doubt that this picture will be used as a meme for years, especially when Taylor has his first breakout game with the Spartans. “They’re cooking” is just too easy of a meme.
