One game into the 2025 season, it looked like Aidan Chiles was going to have the same issues that he battled in 2024.

While his accuracy was there, he was making safe, short throws rather than taking shots against a Western Michigan team that wasn't exactly known for its defense. He was also facing a lot of unexpected pressure, and one of those pressures led to a fumble deep in Western's red zone on a missed block by Brandon Tullis.

One week in, Chiles agreed that he needed to be better, and even gave himself a modest grade.

How has he been since, however? And what grade does he deserve through four games?

I'd say that his C/C+ from the opener has improved drastically. He's been studying much more for tests against Boston College, Youngstown State, and USC, and he deserves much more praise than he's currently getting on a national level.

Against Boston College, Chiles had one of his best games as a Spartan, passing for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 19-of-29 completions. He added 39 rushing yards and a score, and threw the game-winning pass to Omari Kelly on a 2-point conversion. He was confident, effective, and made all the right throws.

The next week, Chiles passed for 270 yards and a touchdown, but threw his first pick of the season that wasn't his fault. A block was missed, and the defender hit his arm as he was throwing; the wobbler ended up in the arms of a Youngstown State defender. He led the Spartans in rushing with 76 yards on eight carries, but maybe no more hurdle attempts.

Finally, he took in his first road game back home. He went back to his old stomping grounds in front of dozens of friends and family members, and put on a show. He had four total touchdowns against a ranked team on the road and had over 250 total yards. Chiles didn't have a single turnover, and made some really impressive deep throws against the Trojans.

So, after a month, what letter grade does he deserve? It feels like he got better and better each week, and his own grade of a C+ has improved by probably 1.5 whole letter grades.
