If you're looking to catch Year 2 of the Jonathan Smith era of Michigan State football in person, you're going to have to reach deep into that savings account, because it's one of the most expensive tickets in the nation.
That's right, it's more expensive to have season tickets for Michigan State this season than it would be to buy a season's worth of tickets to watch Clemson, LSU, Penn State, or even Texas.
How is this possible? Well, inflation could be a cause, but it's also because the Michigan State athletic department views the football program as worth a little more than it currently is. The Spartans haven't made a bowl game since 2021 and went 5-7 under first-year head coach Jonathan Smith last season but yet the season ticket prices are higher than they've ever been.
Don't believe me? FanSided just ranked the top 10 remaining season ticket prices in college football for the 2025 season, and Michigan State came in at No. 6.
Of the schools that haven't sold out completely, the Spartans have the sixth-highest-priced remaining season ticket packages at around $1,300 per ticket at the lowest. That's an incredibly steep price to pay for a team that hasn't sniffed a bowl in years.
The Spartans used to be worth this kind of money. In fact, single-game tickets for that Michigan game back in 2021 were going for at least $200-$300 -- and that was if you were lucky. Recently, Michigan State has had sparse crowds that don't quite warrant the $1,300 you'd have to pay for season tickets ahead of the 2025 campaign.
While many got season tickets for a much lower price, these are just the available packages and the lowest end of the remaining options. In pretty much everyone's opinion, these prices are way too high.
