If you’ve tuned in to an NBA game over the past few years, you’ve probably discovered a new phenomenon that’s been sweeping the league. Players love to complain.
Complain about missed calls, complain about teammates, complain about contracts, complain about coaches. NBA players love to complain about anything. There are stars who stand out like LeBron James, James Harden, and Luka Doncic, to name a few, but one controversial NBA veteran believes that former Michigan State star and current Utah Jazz big man Jaren Jackson Jr. is one of the five biggest complainers in the league.
When you think of the NBA’s biggest complainers, I’m not sure Jaren is the former Michigan State star that comes to mind, but according to Dillon Brooks, he’s in that conversation.
Brooks named Luka Doncic, Steph Curry, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo… and Jackson Jr.

I won’t lie, this list coming from Brooks is hilarious considering he’s one of the league’s most annoying players both with referees and just his regular in-game antics. He likes to try and play mind games to get opponents to crack, but he his ego may be a little too big nowadays. He thinks that he’s LeBron’s kryptonite and he said that Giannis didn’t want to face him.
Neither Giannis nor LeBron are afraid of Brooks. Solid player, but he’s no king slayer.
Calling out a former teammate on a list of guys that you apparently don’t really like is definitely a choice, but maybe there’s just a friendly rivalry there.
Although the Jazz and Phoenix Suns aren’t in the same division, they’re both in the Western Conference which means that we’ll see more Jaren vs. Brooks battles in the near future.

Jaren Jackson Jr. needed a fresh start in Utah
I won’t lie, I was hoping that the Detroit Pistons would trade for Jackson Jr. this past season when the Memphis Grizzlies were looking to shop him. Jackson Jr. and Jalen Duren would have made a nearly unstoppable duo in the post both on the offensive and defensive ends. They would complement each other perfectly, but unfortunately that’s just a pipe dream.
Jackson Jr. got traded to the Jazz where his season ended early with an injury but the 26-year-old big man from Michigan State desperately needed the fresh start.
Although he hadn’t been playing poorly in Memphis, he had just two seasons with more than 70 games played there. That can’t continue in Utah. He needs to stay healthy, play to his potential, and either be part of Utah’s turnaround or raise his stock as a trade option.
I think Utah will do Jaren some good. He’s going to be one of the guys for a team that finished 22-60 this past season. The Jazz need help everywhere and Jackson Jr. may be the star they’ve been looking for.
The trio of Lauri Markkanen, Jaren, and Darryn Peterson are going to be fun to watch this season. Throw in a little Ace Bailey and Keyonte George and the Jazz may just be one of the more exciting teams in the West.
