Tre Holloman has been gone for months now, but that doesn't change the fact that Michigan State basketball fans will be keeping tabs on him while he's at NC State.
Over the weekend, he had his first exhibition action with the Wolfpack. Will Wade and NC State took on South Carolina on Sunday, and although Holloman didn't get the start, he played the third-most minutes (26) on the team and shot 5-for-7 from the floor.
Holloman was impressive in his first live action with the Wolfpack, finishing with 16 points, three steals, three assists, and three rebounds, and he was 2-for-2 from deep.
Many Spartan fans are still upset with how Holloman left Michigan State and his reasoning still doesn't make a ton of sense, especially after he came off the bench for NC State in its first exhibition game, but he looks to be thriving in his new system. However, I do think he'd be able to thrive at Michigan State still, especially considering he could be starting and playing point guard minutes with Jeremy Fears Jr. off the court.
Not to harp on what could have been, it's good to see Holloman playing the minutes he deserves and having the green light to shoot (like he did at MSU).
NC State fans and media members seem rather optimistic that Holloman is going to be a breakout star for the Wolfpack this season, and his first action supports that belief.
We'll see if not having a Holloman coming off the bench on Tuesday night at UConn will truly hurt the Spartans or if it's not as big of a loss as we expected.
