Facing Michigan State football has cursed FBS teams the following week

Facing Michigan State football should never be an easy task for any opponent, but teams are finding it rather difficult, even a week later.

Michigan State is 3-1 on the year, and its lone loss was to a ranked USC team on the road, and the Trojans would even tell you that game was no walk in the park.

A week later, they might tell you the Spartans cursed them -- just like the other two FBS teams that Michigan State has played.

So far this season, teams have found it very difficult to follow up the Michigan State game with a win of their own.

I stumbled across a tweet on Saturday that caught my attention, and it showed just how much of a curse it's been to face Michigan State this season. Every one of the three FBS teams the Spartans have faced has gone without a win the following week.

Outside of FCS foe Youngstown State, every team that Michigan State has faced through the first month has lost the game after playing the Spartans.

Boston College lost to a bad Stanford team on the road, Western Michigan lost at home to North Texas, and USC just lost on Saturday afternoon in a ranked battle at Illinois. Youngstown State was the only team that followed up its Michigan State matchup with a win, beating Towson by three.

While this pretty much means nothing, it could be a trend to keep an eye on, especially if you're a bettor. Putting money on the team that plays Michigan State's opponent the following week could make you a pretty penny by the end of the year.

As always, this isn't betting advice, but rather something to monitor.
