Here we are in the final week of the regular season and the Michigan State vs. Rutgers game stands between the Spartans and a bowl berth.

Michigan State is just 5-6 on the year and a lot of experts are predicting a loss to Rutgers in the finale while the Scarlet Knights at 6-5 and looking to bounce back from a bad home loss to Illinois last week. Greg Schiano always has his teams ready to face the Spartans and Jonathan Smith is facing his most important test to date.

Win the game and the Spartans are headed to the postseason (likely Detroit). Lose the game and Michigan State will be staying home for the third straight bowl season.

Beating the Scarlet Knights won't be easy, but Aidan Chiles has been playing much better lately and the offense just needs some help from the line. Defensively, it's time for this unit to step up despite being down a number of defensive backs.

As is tradition here, I've run a game simulation on EA Sports College Football 25 for this game and the results are interesting,..

Simulation results for Michigan State vs. Rutgers

This game was tight, as expected, and Rutgers took a 14-13 lead into the half and then it got much more interesting after that. The Scarlet Knights built a 28-13 lead in the second half, but Michigan State came back and forced overtime. Michigan State would end up winning in overtime, 43-41, to reach bowl eligibility in a thriller.

Here were the key performers in the big win.
