Another wild week of college football is in the books and there’s going to be even more movement in the AP Top 25 after another top-10 matchup.
LSU and Ole Miss faced off in Oxford as Lane Kiffin returned to the campus he just left for Baton Rouge. It wasn’t the warmest welcome as Ole Miss fans gave him everything he could handle and College GameDay’s game of the week was as exciting as advertised. It came down to a fourth-and-goal but former Spartan Sam Leavitt couldn’t complete a pass in the end zone to tie the game up.
It was a tough loss for LSU and the Tigers will likely drop out of the top 10, but they proved that they’re going to be a force in the SEC along with Ole Miss.
Speaking of forces, Notre Dame took care of Michigan State in South Bend, but Pat Fitzgerald and the Spartans put up a fight, covering the spread — and then some. The Spartans proved that they’re going to be just fine under Fitzgerald’s leadership. Michigan State is competitive even as underdogs and that’s all you can ask for in a rebuilding year.
There were also some upsets this week as Texas A&M dropped a shocker at home against Kentucky which is going to drop them well out of the top 10. SMU also lost at Louisville in one of the three ranked games of the week.
All in all, it was a great Week 3 of college football. What will the Week 4 rankings look like?

LSU shouldn’t drop too far after losing by one score at Ole Miss in one of the most hostile environments in college football. The Tigers should just barely hand on to a spot in the top 10, especially since USC wasn’t all that impressive against Rutgers.
Texas Tech escaped an upset loss at home against Houston on Friday night to kick off what ended up being an exciting weekend.
The rest of the games ended pretty much as expected and the Big Ten had some solid representatives in Ohio State, Oregon, Iowa, and Michigan who all blew out lesser opponents.
Unfortunately, it’ll probably be at least another year until Michigan State receives AP Top 25 votes.
