If you were hoping to see Michigan State shoot out of a cannon on Saturday night, you were probably sorely let down when the score was 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Michigan State received the ball, and Aidan Chiles and the receivers just weren’t on the same page early on, but the second quarter started with a nice spark.

The Spartans got a huge chunk gain at the beginning of the quarter on a 39-yard run after they were essentially shut down in the first quarter. This was the biggest play of the game, and it was extended by about 15 yards thanks to a huge block by Chiles.

Yes, you read that correctly, Chiles gave the ball to Makhi Frazier, looked at the room he had in front of him, and hustled all the way down the field in front of the ball-carrier to make a block.

Who was the block on? Former Spartan Jaden Mangham. Poetic.

Chiles showed insane hustle on the play, and put his body on the line against Mangham who is now very well-liked in East Lansing. He may not have made the perfect block and he did get knocked down on the play, but the hustle did spring Frazier for about 15 extra yards. That’s exactly how you lead by example.

This team has often been knocked for its lack of leadership on the coaching staff, but it looks like the players are feeding off of Chiles. And how could you not when he does stuff like this?
