Unfortunate stray from the home-state NFL team.

There’s a lot going on in the sports world right now from the MLB regular season to the NBA and NHL playoffs to the NFL draft, there’s no shortage of entertainment going on.

With all of that happening, you wouldn’t expect Michigan State to be brought up outside of maybe talking about Jase Richardson in the NBA Playoffs against the Detroit Pistons or potential Spartans selected in the NFL draft. But Aidan Chiles probably didn’t expect to catch a stray from the Detroit Lions, especially since he’s not in this year’s class.

After every pick, the Lions’ official Twitter account obviously shares the news for their followers. Their fourth-round pick happened to be their second Michigan Wolverine drafted and that apparently caused Michigan State to catch a stray from the admin.

Following the pick of Michigan linebacker Jimmy Rolder in the fourth round (which received a horrible grade on ESPN), the Lions’ Twitter account posted a picture of the new Lions — and former Michigan — tandem.

Unfortunately, the picture also showed a scrambling Chiles presumably running for his life.

Sadly, that was how most Chiles photos in a Michigan State uniform looked because the offensive line in front of him was mediocre, at best. He was always running for his life just seconds after getting the snap and that’s why he just never worked out in East Lansing the way everyone had hoped.

He’s hoping that he won’t be remembered for a draft day stray from the Detroit Lions where he’s running for his life from Rolder and Derrick Moore.

Chiles is facing a big year at Northwestern.

Michigan State is still waiting for its first drafted player

To make matters worse after seeing this picture circulating throughout social media, Michigan State has yet to have a player selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The only representation that Michigan State has had this weekend has been former Spartans Zion Young and Germie Bernard getting drafted as well as former Mel Tucker era commit Colton Hood who all went in the second round. All three of those guys had a chance to be teammates at the same time and eventually extend MichiganS tate’s NFL draft streak, but they opted to go to the SEC where their stocks improved.

Unfortunately, Michigan State may go the entire draft without hearing a player’s name called but my best guess would be Ryan Eckley going somewhere in the later rounds.

Let’s hope that this photo of Chiles getting bull-rushed isn’t the only representation of Michigan State in this year’s draft.
