Have yourself a day, Aidan Chiles.
After hearing all week about how his performance against Western Michigan wasn't going to cut it against a much better team like Boston College, Chiles went out and handed the Eagles their first loss of the season by having a career game.
The junior quarterback had a modest 17-for-23 performance in the opener with just over 150 passing yards, but he improved on that in Week 2 with 19-of-29 completions for 231 yards and four scores.
That performance may have been the best of his career when you consider what was on the line, and the fact that he had to play extra time to get the job done. He got hit at the end of regulation, and it was feared that he had suffered an injury that would've cost him the overtime periods, but he came back and played at a high level, leading MSU to a big win.
With the elite performance, Chiles was named to the Davey O'Brien's weekly "Great 8" award list. Each week, the Davey O'Brien Award (given to the nation's top quarterback at the end of the year) names its top eight quarterback performers in the country, and Chiles made the list in Week 2.

This isn't a shock for anyone who has been following his growth, and it's great to see him live up to the hype and get rewarded and recognized for it. He has had a long road to this point in his career, and he has to be thrilled with how he played against the Eagles.
Is this just the start of Chiles' rise? It sure feels that way.
