Michigan State had a big weekend in East Lansing. The football program hosted a handful of elite recruits for the Boston College game which ended up being an instant classic, and an overtime win for Aidan Chiles and the Spartans.

For Jonathan Smith, it was one of the best weekends he's had as a Michigan State head coach, and some of his players are now earning some recognition for their elite performances.

The aforementioned Chiles was one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Week 2, even getting named to the 'Great 8' list of the top eight performing quarterbacks of the week.

The Big Ten also honored Chiles, naming him the offensive player of the week.

Chiles threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 19-of-29 completions. He also ran for 39 yards and another score. He did complete the game-winning pass on the 2-point conversion attempt to Omari Kelly in the corner of the end zone, completing a magical performance.

But that wasn't the only Spartan who earned Big Ten honors.

In fact, junior linebacker Jordan Hall, too, was named as one of the Big Ten's players of the week. He earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.

The defense didn't play all that well on Saturday, but Jordan Hall was the top performer, notching 15 tackles on Saturday evening. He'd tell you that it wasn't his best performance, but he was stout against the run and really made his impact felt when the rest of the defense seemingly disappeared.

It's not often you see a sweep of the Big Ten player of the week awards, but that's how good Hall and Chiles were on Saturday. It's a shame Ryan Eckley wasn't named special teams player of the week.
