The NIL era is wild, but as fans of college sports, we have to get used to it. A new commonality in the NIL era is players thanking fanbases for supporting them and even announcing returns for the next season. Michigan State football must have sent out some NIL checks on Friday because a number of key players tweeted out thank yous to the fanbase while tagging Sparty NIL.
A number of key Spartans took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank the fans and Sparty NIL for their support this season and they used that opportunity to say they'd be "running it back" in 2025.
The most important announcement of a return had to be Aidan Chiles who said he was "excited to run it back" in 2025.
Another big NIL tweet came from Nick Marsh who thanked the fans for all the support and while he didn't explicitly say he'd be back in 2025, it was reported recently that he had worked behind the scenes with the program to ensure his return for his sophomore year. By all accounts, Marsh looks to be back with the Spartans.
Wayne Matthews III, a newcomer in 2024, will be a key part of the defense moving forward and he announced that he'd be returning in 2025. He says he's excited to run it back.
The other major return announcement on Friday came from young cornerback Chance Rucker who missed most of the 2024 season due to an injury but the expectations for him are through the roof. He has the potential to be a lockdown defensive back for the Spartans.
Other guys who have previously announced returns are Jack Velling, Anthony Jones, and Kristian Phillips, among others.
This roster is taking shape for 2025 and the transfer additions are complementing it nicely.
