Are you tired of reading about Michigan State hockey yet? Well, tell Adam Nightingale to stop doing really good things for the program, including leading Team USA for the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase.

The event is going to take place at the end of July until Aug. 1 and it’ll feature a multitude of Spartans.

In fact, out of the 47 players who were invited to the World Junior Summer Showcase, eight of them are Spartans. And that’s not counting Nightingale leading a coaching staff that also includes associate head coach Jared DeMichiel.

The invitees were announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans who will be representing Team USA at the event are Jack Hextall, Cullen Potter, Brooks Rogowski, Mason West, Tommy Bleyl, Sean Barnhill, Nick Bogas, and Chase Reid.

Michigan State already stole the show on a national level, dominating the 2026 NHL Draft with nine selections and five first-rounders, and now the Spartans are going to be represented on a global stage at the World Junior Showcase in July. Talk about putting a program on the map.

Team USA’s roster has a perfect mix of Spartans

Other than the obvious head coach and associate head coach of the team, Team USA has the perfect mix of Spartans from Michigan State vets to incoming dreaming to a couple of guys who won’t be joining the program until next season. It’ll be good to have them all get acclimated.

Hextall (Flames), Bleyl (Predators), and Reid (Kraken) will all be incoming freshmen at Michigan State this season and all three were just picked in the first round of the NHL draft.

Potter will also be a newcomer this season, transferring in after two seasons at Arizona State. He had 22 points in 35 games with the Sun Devils as a freshman and then broke out for 26 points in 24 points as a sophomore before deciding to enter the transfer portal. Nightingale landed a potential future Spartan superstar the unconventional (at least in NCAA hockey) way.

West is expected to join the team this year, too, as another former first-round pick, getting selected No. 29 overall in the 2025 NHL Draft. He’s going to be one of the best players on the roster.

Barnhill is entering his second season with Michigan State after totaling just four points as a freshman. The 19-year-old defenseman from Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-round pick last year.

Lastly, Rogowski and Boas are both expected to join the 2027-28 roster but both have a chance to showcase their talents on the world stage after being drafted this past weekend.

This is a diverse group of current and future Spartans.
