These guys could flirt with the portal.

A guy who I had some high hopes for this season but was a healthy scratch a few times and only saw the field in two games is Lejond Cavazos who might flirt with the portal again.

Cavazos has played in five seasons of college football but with a redshirt year and a COVID year to utilize, he still has one year of eligibility left. With that final year, I could see him transferring to the Group of Five and playing some major snaps for one of the better teams at that level.

Do I think Cavazos is good? It's hard to say because we really didn't get to see much of him, but he did start his career at Ohio State before transferring to North Carolina and recording 18 tackles and two pass breakups in 12 games. He recorded just two tackles in two games for the Spartans as he appeared on special teams and near the end of the year.

It feels like he had plenty of opportunities to crack the playing rotation this season with all of the injuries in the defensive backfield, but he just didn't see the field much. Couple that with the fact that his position coach just left and I could see him following or looking for time at a smaller program.

Again, I'd like him to stay and live up to his potential, but he just didn't crack the rotation.
