Everyone and their brother knows that Jaxon Kohler is having a special season with Michigan State, and even some NBA stars are noticing.
OK, so maybe the NBA star is a Spartan alum, but it still counts.
Draymond Green moved out of East Lansing over a decade ago, and people are already starting to talk about a potential coaching career, but he’s still paying close attention to what’s going on with his former program. Green has been tuning in when he can to watch Michigan State this season, and he made a bold statement about the Spartans’ star big man.
Kohler has been putting up historic numbers so far this season, and Green made sure to give him a ringing endorsement to his millions of followers on Instagram.

Green called Kohler a “first round pick” but said that “they still haven’t learned”. Basically, he’s saying that, just like Draymond himself, scouts and NBA teams are overlooking Kohler just because he doesn’t fit the perfect mold for an NBA big man.
Just because Kohler isn’t super athletic doesn’t mean he’s not worthy of first-round consideration, according to Draymond. He would know exactly what that’s like.
Jaxon Kohler is this MSU team’s Draymond Green
It’s interesting that Draymond is giving Kohler such high praise because Jaxon is playinga similar role to the one Green played at Michigan State. Draymond was the heartbeat of the team, and he did a little of everything really well, and rarely made mistakes. That describes senior year Kohler to perfection.
Their numbers may not be overly similar because Draymond was a triple-double machine, but Kohler is having the same type of impact on this year’s team.
The growth that we’ve seen from Kohler as a player and a leader has been unbelievable from just one season ago. He just about doubled his offensive production and he’s averaging 10 rebounds per game. This junior-to-senior jump has been incredible, and if NBA teams want a guy with a high motor who is always willing to improve and work on his craft while being super coachable, Jaxon fits the bill.
