The 2024 calendar year is in the books and we're a few days into 2025 and Michigan State basketball is facing its first test of the new year on Friday night against Ohio State.

The Spartans will be in Columbus to face the Buckeyes to kick off the new year and they still have plenty to prove. Michigan State has been one of the best teams in the Big Ten so far this season, but with conference play resuming this week, it's time to see what its New Year's resolutions should be.

Now that the calendar has turned to 2025, what should be the Spartans' resolutions?

1. Deep run in March

This one was the most obvious choice so why not include it at No. 1? The Spartans haven't had a deep run in March since 2019 and that's just not good enough for this program.

Tom Izzo vowed to get Michigan State back to deep March runs or die trying following last year's NCAA Tournament loss to North Carolina and this resolution calls for him to uphold his end of the proclamation. He can't be letting the Spartans fall short for yet another year.

While Final Fours are nice, I think I speak for every Spartan in existence when I say, why not aim higher and capture national title No. 2 under Izzo?

Sure, we'll all take a deep run, but why not win it all? This team seems to be cut from a different cloth than the few previous squads so anything is possible.
