Michigan State women's basketball is getting ready to take to the Big Ten tournament, as they look to try and reach the quarterfinal round.

The Spartan ladies had another great campaign in year two under head coach Robyn Fralick. They were able to go 21-8, and 11-7 in the Big Ten. They had some outstanding playmakers this season.

Sure with 18 teams in the Big Ten the awards part of the season is a whole lot tougher, but three Spartans were able to garner some Big Ten accolades.

First off, senior captain Julia Ayrault was able to receive All-Big Ten second-team honors, marking the second time of her career she was named to an All-Big Ten team.

Sure her scoring average wasn't quite as high as last season, but her effort and leadership was huge this season, and now she will have a chance to go out the right way in the Big Ten tournament and the Big Dance.

She wasn't alone, as Grace VanSlooten joined Julia on the All-Big Ten second team as well. The duo both had a great season, and Grace has been huge down the stretch, scoring 15 or more points in each of her last five games.

That included a terrific showing in a tough matchup with Big Ten champion USC, where she scored 29 points. Transferring from Oregon to MSU certainly paid off this season for VanSlooten

Lost in the shuffle a bit was Theryn Hallock who was the sixth woman of the year last season. She backed it up with a great season. Hallock set a new season high point mark, as well as set her personal game scoring mark on several different occasions this season.

She was clutch down the stretch and if this league wasn't full of great talent, Theryn may have made an All-Big Ten team. She had to settle for All-Big Ten honorable mention. It was still a successful season, and these three ladies proved they were the leaders for this year's team.

Best of luck the rest of the way.
