Michigan State’s second game of the season is already upon us. Following a near-40-point win over Quinnipiac on Monday, the Spartans will look to stay rolling against Toledo.
Duke is on deck, but first, it’s time for some piping-hot bold predictions for Thursday’s game.
Kaleb Glenn records his first Spartan double-double
Kaleb Glenn just needed to see the ball go through the net one time and all that rust that built up from sitting out the 2026-27 season would disappear. It finally happened against Quinnipiac as he scored 11 points and grabbed a couple of boards, admitting after the game that he needed a game like this.
That lit a fire that we’re going to see on display on Thursday night as the former four-star recruit and FAU Owl will record just his third-ever double-double and his first since March of 2025. He’ll score 13, but he will miss his first shot of the season, and grab 10 boards.

Jeremy Fears scores 25
Through exhibition play and the first official game of the season, Jeremy Fears has been more of a facilitator, although when he sees an open lane, he’s driving to either score at the rim or draw a foul every time. Rarely is he spotting up for jumpers, and Izzo has challenged him to be elite because “good” isn’t going to cut it anymore, so he’ll respond with 25 points and 10 assists true player of the year showing against Toledo.
If Fears wants to win big things and take home some major hardware, he’s going to need games like these fairly regularly. He’s been challenged to be elite and he never backs down.
Contributing to the 25 points, Fears will hit three 3-pointers and a few other mid-range jumpers. He’ll only need five free throws to get there, too.
Michigan State scores 100
Toledo only gave up 71 on the road to Arkansas State in the first game of the season, but it should have been a much more lopsided loss than 71-70. The Rockets had 18 fouls that led to 23 Arkansas State free throws and the Red Wolves hit just 10 of them. Nope, that’s not a typo — the Red Wolves shot 43 percent from the line.
Michigan State gets to the line a ton and Toledo’s not going to be able to defend much without fouling. The Spartans will probably shoot close to 30 free throws, just because they’re aggressive offensively, and that’ll help with the 100-point goal.
Michigan State scores 90-plus in its first two games since it scored 100-plus in the first three back in 2004-05 before losing at Duke.
Let’s hope that final not-so-fun fact doesn’t repeat itself this season.
