Offensive line

Like the receiving corps, the offensive line has lost a ton this offseason to the transfer portal. Spencer Brown has already transferred to Oklahoma, Kevin Wigenton is hearing from a number of schools, and the same can be said for Geno VanDeMark and Ethan Boyd. There have been some big names hitting the portal from the line and that’s concerning heading into 2024.

There are some solid young pieces, but the transfer portal will be crucial for this group.

Here are two guys I hope the Spartans push for.

  • Chase Bisontis, Texas A&M

Does this name sound familiar? That’s because Mel Tucker was pushing hard for him and looked like he was going to land him before he picked Texas A&M. But now that Jimbo Fisher is fired and his high school teammate Jalen Berger is still in East Lansing, Chase Bisontis could give the Spartans another look.

Let’s hope Jim Michalczik and Jonathan Smith make a push for the portal’s top offensive lineman right now, according to 247Sports.

  • Luke Newman, Holy Cross

It’s not often that you see an FCS player get so much attention in the transfer portal, but Luke Newman has been a star at Holy Cross for four years. He still has a COVID year to use and will be looking to play his final season in the FBS. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native and FCS All-American would be a fantastic addition to the line in East Lansing.

Bring him home.
