It’s been a few days, but Aidan Chiles is still in the transfer portal and Michigan State football is still looking for someone to fill that QB1 role for 2024.

For the past week, fans have been wondering who will play quarterback for the Spartans next fall and it’s a legitimate concern because Katin Houser, Sam Leavitt, and Noah Kim all entered their names in the transfer portal and Henry Hasselbeck decommitted.

Jonathan Smith has zero scholarship quarterbacks on the roster heading into the offseason but that could change in the near future.

According to reports earlier this week when Chiles entered the portal, Michigan State is the team expected to sign the former top-100 prospect.

This is a huge development because he’s actually ranked the No. 1 quarterback transfer in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports. This would be the biggest recruiting win for the Spartans since Kenneth Walker III.

The impact that Chiles would have on the program would be unmatched.

Michigan State football should be able to land Chiles

Nick Marsh and his mom have been actively recruiting Chiles since the four-star receiver reaffirmed his commitment to the Spartans. This should help matters.

But the fact that Smith was his first coach and he spoke highly of the four-star quarterback and burned that redshirt by playing him in nine games in 2023 makes me think that the two will be teaming back up in East Lansing.

All of the insiders tend to agree. This would be a massive get for Michigan State and it would kick the Smith era off on the right note.
