First it was Katin Houser, then it was Sam Leavitt, and to top it all off, Noah Kim decided to enter the portal on Tuesday, leaving Michigan State football with no scholarship quarterbacks heading into 2024.

It’s truly hard to fathom the idea of Houser and Leavitt leaving the program despite having such promising futures and an offensive guru coming in as head coach, but here we are.

Houser started seven games in 2023 and showed some promise. He wasn’t elite, by any means, but with even semi-competent coaching, he could become a star. Unfortunately, he decided to hit the portal with the hopes of starting fresh somewhere else. Sure, he could come back, but it doesn’t seem all that likely.

As for Leavitt, there’s probably no chance he will consider returning, especially after saying that there were hard feelings between him and Jonathan Smith from his recruiting days.

And Kim is probably 100 percent gone, too.

So what does this mean? A transfer portal quarterback could be on his way.

Is Jonathan Smith bringing his QB to Michigan State football?

The first name that made its rounds on social media as a rumored replacement for the trio of Spartan quarterbacks in the portal was Aidan Chiles. Heck, ever since Smith accepted the job, everyone kind of assumed he would follow his coach.

Smith called Chiles one of the most impressive young quarterbacks he’s been around.

As a former top-100 recruit and a true dual-threat who had seven touchdowns in limited action behind DJ Uiagalelei this year, this would be the perfect spot for him. He already knows the offense, he knows the coaches, and he’d be given the reins right away.

Rumors are swirling here and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Chiles in the green and white.

And if that happens, he’s going to be really good.
