Michigan State football: Power ranking head coaching candidates after Week 10
We are approaching another action-packed weekend of college football which means we’re one step closer to figuring out who the next Michigan State football coach will be.
The Spartans are 3-6 on the year and they’re facing Ohio State this weekend which should be, well, ugly. I’m not going to be that guy and just assume Michigan State will get blown out because crazier things have happened before, but the Spartans’ chances are somewhere around .0001%.

Anyways, it’s time to look at what the coaching search looks like ahead of Week 11.
Honorable mention: Charles Huff, Chris Klieman, Brian Hartline
Jonathan Smith is still a popular name and he comes in at No. 5 on my list after leading the Beavers to a road win over Colorado last weekend.
It wasn’t exactly the prettiest of wins and a big lead melted away late as the Beavers only won by a touchdown, but a road win in the Pac-12 isn’t easy — especially this year. They improved to 7-2 with the win and the playoff committee vaulted the Beavers to No. 12 in this week’s rankings.
Not too shabby.
Smith continues to prove that he’s one of the best coaches in the Pac-12 and he’s still very much alive for his first Pac-12 title and the program’s first since 2000.
It won’t be easy for Michigan State to pry him away from his alma mater, however.
