Michigan State football: Keyshawn Blackstock enters transfer portal
It’s been a rough week-plus for Michigan State football.
The Spartans blew an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter to Rutgers last weekend and then got blown out 49-0 by Michigan this past Saturday. And then Michigan State lost Andrew Dennis and Syair Torrence to decommitments.
Following those devastating losses and some questionable quotes from Harlon Barnett about not being too hard on his players this season, the Spartans lost two guys to the transfer portal.
First, it was Simeon Barrow and then he was followed by JUCO offensive line transfer Keyshawn Blackstock on Tuesday.
This is a tough loss because depth is an obvious concern this season with all of the injuries and guys sitting out to wait and see (presumably) who the next coach will be.
But Blackstock didn’t get as much of a run as expected and this is probably a smart move.
Blackstock’s time with Michigan State football short-lived
I will admit, when Michigan State landed Blackstock from the JUCO ranks, I expected him to be one of the best linemen on the team and potentially an all-conference honorable mention-type player. He was that impressive out of the JUCO level.
He just never really lived up to that.
Blackstock didn’t see the field a ton despite being one of Chris Kapilovic’s guys and he felt it was time for him to head to a program that could potentially use him more.
Michigan State’s offensive line is already thinning out as it is, but this is another blow.
