Another guy who probably wouldn’t leave his current spot to coach at Michigan State, but there’s always the right price for everyone.

Like Kalen DeBoer, he’s happy where he currently is, but we’ve seen Lane take jobs with better pay in the past. He’s no stranger to leaving his current situation for other opportunities suddenly.

According to The Commercial Dispatch, Kiffin is making $7.35 million this season at Ole Miss and bonuses could actually boost that to closer to $9 million. That would be a tough contract to beat and while Michigan State has shown that it does have the money, I just can’t see the athletic department topping $10 million per year for a new coach not named Urban Meyer.

Kiffin would probably be worth it, though. He’s a great recruiter and has coached at some big-time programs, going 7-6 at Tennessee in one season and 28-15 at USC before getting let go and spending time in the Nick Saban reformed coaches system.

After spending time as Saban’s offensive coordinator at Alabama, Kiffin went to Florida Atlantic where he was 26-13 with two 10-plus win seasons in three years and then got hired at Ole Miss.

The success he’s had at Ole Miss has been impressive and unprecedented and they’re going to pay him whatever he wants to keep him in town. He’s made the Rebels annual staples in the AP Top 25, but man it would be fun to see the Lane Train make a long-term stop in East Lansing.
