Michigan State basketball picks up commitment from 4-star legacy recruit
Earlier this week, four-star combo guard Jase Richardson revealed a top three and said that he would make a commitment announcement on Sunday evening. Well, Michigan State basketball fans should be celebrating their first good news (well, second if you count Katin Houser starting) of the weekend.
After suffering through that disastrous meltdown in Piscataway on Saturday afternoon, Michigan State fans got a nice little pick-me-up with Richardson’s commitment on Sunday.
Jase, the son of Spartan legend Jason Richardson, is ranked the No. 35 overall recruit in the nation as well as third-best combo guard, according to the 247Sports Composite. He received a crystal ball early on Sunday from Justin Thind which kind of alluded to his imminent commitment.
Richardson becomes the third commitment in Michigan State’s 2024 class, joining three-star big man Jesse McCulloch and four-star shooting guard Kur Teng.
Michigan State basketball still eyeing one more in 2024?
With the class now at three pledges, there’s a chance that the Spartans could be done recruiting this cycle and Tom Izzo can turn his attention toward 2025, but there’s one more big name on the board.
Five-star small forward Bryson Tucker is likely the last guy on the board for Izzo. He’s the No.19 overall recruit in the class and he’s been heavily connected to Michigan State.
A class with Richardson, Tucker, McCulloch, and Teng to follow up the one with Xavier Booker, Coen Carr, Jeremy Fears Jr., and Gehrig Normand would be massive.
Izzo is really pushing for No. 2.
