3. The Birthplace of college football

For all you non-college football junkies, the very first college football game was played on Nov. 6, 1869, with the Princeton Tigers visiting the Rutgers Queensmen (a little too loyal to the Evil British Empire for me, especially with the name coming 92 years after the Declaration of Independence but whatever).

There was one quarter (it probably wasn’t called a quarter the more I think of it) and it ended in a barn-burning 6-4 victory for Rutgers.

It mainly resembled soccer but was played on a gridiron field and gave way to the game that we watch every Saturday and causes us to feel joy, or cry into our pillow.
