Saturday night’s Michigan State vs. Iowa game will take center stage for fans looking for low-scoring affairs between two struggling Big Ten teams.

The Spartans are coming off a 31-9 loss against Maryland at home in a game that felt much closer than the final score indicates. They’re now 2-2 on the season after being outscored 72-16 over the past two weeks.

Iowa, on the other hand, was drubbed by Penn State in Happy Valley, 31-0. The Hawkeyes’ offense has been anemic per usual but fans are begging for changes. Could Cade McNamara and Co. get back on track against a suddenly-struggling MSU defense?

Here’s how to watch the Michigan State vs. Iowa game on Saturday night.

Michigan State vs. Iowa weather report (Updated Sept. 30)

The weather in Iowa City is actually going to be way warmer than you’d expect. The high for Saturday in Iowa City is 92 degrees and it’ll be right around 84 degrees for kickoff. There’s not expected to be any precipitation and very minimal winds at 7 mph. It’s a beautiful day for football — maybe a little too warm for late September.

Michigan State vs. Iowa series history

Iowa actually leads the all-time series against Michigan State 24-22-2. It’s a close one, but Michigan State finds itself two wins back in the series. Could the Spartans pull within one on Saturday night? The last time these two teams met was in 2020 and Mel Tucker’s first team was trounced by the Hawkeyes in Iowa City with no fans there to witness the drubbing. Michigan State had won three straight before Iowa’s win during the COVID year.

Prediction for Michigan State vs. Iowa

I can see this one being closer than people expected at the beginning of the season and after the past two ugly weeks, but I just don’t see the offense mustering much. I do think the Spartans will finally break the double-digit scoring mark, but it just won’t be enough. Iowa wins on a late touchdown drive.

Prediction: Michigan State 13, Iowa 20
