Saturday’s Michigan State vs. Maryland will catch the attention of Big Ten fans as both teams are trying to prove themselves as more than just middle-of-the-pack teams.

The Spartans are fresh off an ugly loss at home to No. 8 Washington, 41-7. It was the first game without Mel Tucker who, well, we all know what happened to the now-former head coach. It was clear that the whirlwind of a media storm that was the week leading up to the Washington game had an impact on these players as they looked almost checked out.

Maryland, on the other hand, is 3-0 on the season and just dominated Virginia 42-14 last week. The Terrapins have a solid offense led by Taulia Tagovailoa and the defense has looked improved.

Here’s how you can watch Michigan State vs. Maryland.

Michigan State vs. Maryland weather report (Updated Sept. 22)

Now that we’ve gotten the dozens of injuries out of the way, what will the weather look like on Saturday afternoon in East Lansing? It’s going to be around 74 degrees with no clouds and winds around 9 miles per hour at kickoff and no precipitation in the forecast. It will be in the upper 60s by the end of the game. A beautiful day for football indeed.

Prediction for Michigan State vs. Maryland

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Michigan State and its players and I think we’ll see the guys a little mentally unprepared once again for a pass-heavy attack.

Fortunately, Maryland isn’t known for its defense so that could keep Michigan State in this one if the offensive line can wake up and create running lanes for Nathan Carter and protect the pocket.

In the end, I think Michigan State covers, but loses a close one.

Final score: Maryland 27, Michigan State 23
