There haven’t been a ton of positives coming out of East Lansing regarding the Michigan State football program over the last two weeks.

We all know what went down with Mel Tucker and the harassment case and the subsequent intent to terminate his contract and we all watched the Washington game (unfortunately). The Spartans are reeling right now and it feels like there’s no end in sight.

To make matters even worse, the fourth game of the season is approaching and a lot of players will be able to retain their redshirt and enter the transfer portal following the game.

Well, that and there will be a free 30-day window for players to transfer following the official firing of Tucker.

But despite all of this, there have been some bright spots with some young guys. Katin Houser looked solid in the final drive of the Washington game and Jordan Hall has impressed, too.

Hall has been one of the most impressive young linebackers in the Big Ten and a huge bright spot on a team that needs it right now.

According to Al Karsten, Hall is graded as Pro Football Focus’ 10th-best linebacker in the Big Ten.

It’s great to see such a promising young linebacker putting in the work when given the opportunity and he could be a valuable piece to build around moving forward.

Hopefully he sticks around and doesn’t hit the portal because he could be the centerpiece on defense for years to come.
