The weekend is finally here which means Michigan State football will be hosting one of the top teams in the country hoping to pull off a massive upset.

Harlon Barnett is the acting head coach and Mark Dantonio has been brought in to help out and steady the ship during this unfortunate Mel Tucker situation. There’s a lot to look forward to in East Lansing and while no one is picking Michigan State to beat the Huskies, I am.

Here’s why I believe Michigan State beats Washington on Saturday.

3. Nathan Carter

Do I believe Nathan Carter deserves to be one of the reasons MSU will pull off the upset? Of course I do or he wouldn’t be listed here.

Obviously the offense is much more than just Carter, but he’s been a revelation for the Spartans, rushing for over 100 yards in each of his first two games in East Lansing. Couple that with the fact that Washington’s run defense has been mediocre through the first two games against inferior opponents and you have to be intrigued by what Carter could do on Saturday.

I think he’s going to give Washington fits.

We’ll see a more aggressive rushing attack and Carter is going to run to set up the pass. So while I also think Noah Kim will have a good game, it’ll be Carter’s electrifying running style that will force the defense to play up and it’ll set up some beautiful long balls.

Carter is going to have himself a day.
