Another fall camp, another tough injury. Michigan State football is so back, folks.

It’s almost impossible to get through fall camp without a devastating injury and the Spartans’ first major one was revealed on Wednesday evening.

According to Stanton Ramil’s Twitter, he had surgery on his knee and he’s going to miss some time.

From the looks of his cast/brace, there’s a chance this could be ACL or meniscus-related, but I also don’t want to speculate since I have no clue. All I know is that he suffered a knee injury and got it surgically repaired.

Ramil made sure to thank the coaching staff, his doctors, and the trainers for sticking by his side through all of this and he stated that he’s going to support his teammates this year and he’ll be back on the field “soon”.

Soon is definitely subjective and it’s likely just him saying he’ll be back when he heals up for next year. Coaches don’t mess around with knee injuries, even if they aren’t ACL-related.

I’m expecting him to miss the year with this kind of post.

This injury is disheartening for Michigan State football

While I don’t think we were going to see a lot of Ramil this season, he was still one of the crown jewels of the 2023 recruiting class, and the expectations surrounding him in East Lansing are sky-high.

But this injury changes his career trajectory.

He likely won’t see any game action this year to get his feet wet and that means no practicing and gaining valuable experience that way. This is a tough blow for his growth. He went from an offensive lineman who could legitimately start next year to one who may still be rehabbing next summer. It’s a tough blow.

I’m hoping he has a speedy recovery and gets back to the field sooner rather than later because this is a dude who I can see being a staple on the offensive line for years to come.
