Michigan State football: Game-by-game predictions for 2023 season
Folks, we are one day away from kickoff and that means we are past due for some game-by-game predictions for the 2023 Michigan State football season.
I’ve been marinating on these for a while because honestly, I don’t know what to expect. There are so many question marks heading into the season and I can’t remember a time when I’ve seen record predictions anywhere from 4-8 to 8-4, but that plays into the uncertainty theme.
To be honest, I’m not sure how I’m going to feel even after Week 1.
Alright, let’s dive into the game-by-game predictions for 2023.
Is there some doubt heading into the opener? Probably more than there would be if Michigan State had made a bowl game last season and not completely fallen apart.
But I still expect a win from the Spartans on Friday night. Central Michigan isn’t going to just roll over and their quarterbacks could present a problem because they can run with the ball, but I have faith in this defensive front to make the necessary stops.
Not a “comfortable” win but a win nonetheless.
Prediction: Win (1-0)
After getting Central Michigan out of the way, Michigan State will head into a matchup with Richmond hoping to iron out some kinds. There’s usually a lot of growth from game one to game two and I expect the Spartans to really figure out that quarterback situation by this point.
With that being said, this should be a sure win for Michigan State. Anything less than a comfortable victory would be a disappointment.
Prediction: Win (2-0)
