Michigan State football fans truly don’t know what to expect in 2023. They don’t know who their starting quarterback will be, they don’t know if the defense will improve, and they don’t know who will be starting at running back or at the third receiver spot.

There are a ton of question marks surrounding this year’s team.

Yet Mel Tucker continues to say that it’s the most talented roster he’s had since he’s been at Michigan State, and he’s not wrong.

In honor of it officially being game week, here are five of our boldest predictions surrounding this question mark-riddled Spartan team.

5. Katin Houser takes over as QB1 after a couple of games

Do I think Katin Houser is going to begin the season as the starter against Central Michigan? No. Do I think that stops him from taking over? Also no.

I actually think Noah Kim takes the field as QB1 against the Chippewas but we’ll see Houser come in and play really well. He’ll also get a shot to play against Richmond in Week 2 and he’ll gain even more confidence. I do think that Kim will struggle against Washington and Houser will come in and take the reins for good.

Houser, in my opinion, has the higher ceiling of the two quarterbacks and he gives this offense a different look with an underrated dual-threat ability.

The second-year quarterback is going to come in for Kim against Washington and never look back. He’ll be the starter for the final 2.5 months of the season.
