Surprised to see Tre Mosley at No. 1 on my list? Honestly, I kind of am, too.

But after looking at his career trajectory compared to some past Spartan receiver greats along with the fact that he’s as sure-handed as they come, I think I’m going to buy some serious stock in Mosley.

What do Felton Davis III*, Aaron Burbridge, and Tony Lippett all have in common? All of them only had one “big” season. I put an asterisk next to Davis because he was on pace to have two big seasons but an injury cut his senior year short. But he was quiet until his junior year, Burbridge’s season-high in yards before his senior breakout was 364, and Lippett was decent until his senior year when he won Big Ten Receiver of the Year.

Mosley is very much the same way to those guys as he’s always been solid, but has had a quiet career up to this point, for the most part. He did have 35 catches for 530 yards and three touchdowns in 2021, but that was his high.

I don’t know if it’s a gut feeling or the fact that Mosley has glue for hands, but I think we’re going to see him have a huge season and maybe join the other Spartan greats listed above.
