I may be speaking this one into existence more than anything, but I truly believe that Nathan Carter is a special running back. And this is not a knock on Jalen Berger (who I’ve been very high on) or Jaren Mangham. The Spartans will have three capable running backs this season, but I just see Carter getting a bulk of the carries.

After excelling at UConn over the past two seasons, Carter decided it was time for a change of scenery, transferring to Michigan State this offseason.

His time at UConn isn’t talked about enough either. He had 578 rushing yards and two touchdowns and 19 catches for 127 yards as a freshman. And in his second season, he rushed for 405 yards and a touchdown before getting hurt in the Huskies’ fourth game and missing the rest of the year.

Michigan State needs a boost in the run game and it looks like Carter can be just that, especially behind an offensive line that looks to be solid.

I think Carter is going to be RB1 early on and he’s going to be the next Spartan rusher to break 1,000 yards on the ground.
