The much-anticipated Thy Shadows event finally took place on Friday night and those in attendance got the first look of the new Michigan State football jerseys.

It was cool to see Cal Haladay, JD Duplain, Khris Bogle, and Tre Mosley showing off the new threads.

And they looked really, really good.

I was able to get a first-hand look at the jerseys in person, and man, these things are beautiful. From the Greek key lines on the sides and down the middle of the helmet, these are easily the best non-green or white jerseys that Michigan State has ever featured (sorry, bronze fans).

Here’s another look at the uniform combo with Tre Mosley modeling it:

The detail in the helmet is fantastic as there’s a “spatter” pattern that you can see up close and the green-on-black combo is going to look really good under the lights. Somewhere on the line, I’d love to see the program implement a matte black helmet with a white Spartan.

These jerseys are clean and they rival any black “alternate” in the country. I put alternate in quotes because Darien Harris admitted that these aren’t alternates and they’ll be used regularly.

Great news.

Other new Michigan State football looks are elite, too

While the black jerseys are the first of their kind at Michigan State and it’s a brand-new look for the Spartans, the green and white jerseys were also updated.

And they’re clean.

The Greek key is my favorite part of the new jerseys of all colors, especially on the all-white look. It just looks fresh and updated. This is exactly what Michigan State football needed.

While I’ve liked the old looks, they got a little stale.

Michigan State had been working with Nike on these for four years and the finished product is beautiful. The Greek key playing a huge role is fantastic.
