Last week, there was a lot of debate on the interwebs about the 2013 season, notably the injustice of the 2013 Michigan State football loss at Notre Dame.

Yes, the referees blew several pass interference calls against MSU en route to their only loss of the season. Let’s pretend this game is called correctly and the Spartans complete the regular season and still beat Ohio State in the Big Ten title game. An undefeated Big Ten team is a lock to go to the then-BCS National Championship Game against undefeated and eventual national champion Florida State Seminoles.

The debate heated up when one national writer said that Michigan State would have been shut out by the ‘Noles in the title game which is a wild and ludicrous take.

So, let us look at some undeniable facts, also called data but before we do that, let’s also take a look at how Auburn, the team that lost in the title game, stacked up against the Spartans.
