Miles Bridges could soon be headed back to the NBA after missing the entire 2022-23 season due domestic violence charges.

The former Michigan State star was once a beloved figure in the NBA for Spartan fans, but that all changed last summer right before free agency was set to begin. In fact, the day before he was set to get a massive payday from one NBA team, he found himself in legal trouble. His big payday wouldn’t come and he would miss the entire year.

Now, he’s one of the most controversial NBA figures.

But on Wednesday, the Hornets came one step closer to bringing him back to the league, extending a qualifying offer to the Flint native.

This means that he’s going to be a restricted free agent. Other teams will be able to offer Bridges, but the Hornets can match any of those offers.

He’ll have to sit out the first 10 games of the season to finish out his 30-game suspension stemming from the domestic violence incident.

Miles Bridges fresh off a career year before the incident

Before the off-court issues became public, Bridges was fresh off a career year and was about to get paid.

Though he was solid through his first three seasons, Bridges broke out in year four, averaging 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 49 percent from the floor, 33 percent from deep, and 80 percent from the free throw line. He became a better all-around player and didn’t settle for just dunks and threes.

Now, he’ll have to win fans back after his off-court issues and prove that he’s grown up. Soon, he’ll be back in the NBA.
