Happy Birthday, Jayden Reed. At about 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday night, Reed was wished a happy birthday by the Green Bay Packers in the form of being the squad’s second-round draft pick. He is their third selection this draft, joining fellow Big Ten alumni Lukas Van Ness and fellow pass catcher, tight end Luke Musgrave.

So, a Chicago native who went to college in Michigan twice (Western and MSU) goes to the biggest rival of both areas, the Green Bay Packers. The irony is not lost on me.

As a Lions fan, I am disappointed my team did not take him, but we get to see Jayden wearing green still, for a positive spin on everything.

If you are a Packer fan reading this article, Reed is quite the playmaker. Here are his seven best plays as a Spartan that I highlighted last week.

Now, as for the questions we all are wondering, what is Jayden’s route to the field? Here are the fellow receivers in the room. Quite a few of them have played the Spartans before.

The return situation

Keisean Nixon (Returner, age 26)

Keisean Nixon is one of the best returners in the NFL. Nixon, a corner from South Carolina, received an All-Pro nod for his efforts last season. Unfortunately, the Packers just inked the corner to a one-year extension worth $4 million. Considering his lack of contributions on defense, it is highly unlikely that Reed will be the primary punt or kick returner this year. It is only a one-year extension, and who says that Aaron Rodgers will not ask the Jets to trade for his favorite return man?
