Michigan State Football: Way-too-early offensive position groups preview
Offensive Line
On paper, this unit should be their strongest offensively. Four returning starters with a handful of others with game experience.
Not bad, right?
The problem is that they were so horrible last year, what does it mean that a lot of the same guys are returning? I think the answer lies in the inconsistency of who was starting and substitution packages throughout the game.
It seems like there was a different starting lineup each week due to injury (remember, there wasn’t a lot of live tackling and blocking at practice during the season last year due to injury), so I think having the offseason to heal and now with the mix of experience, an injection of youth (seven returning redshirt freshman) and a top JUCO transfer in Keyshawn Blackstock, the Spartans have the piece to make this unit one of the tops in the Big Ten.
It’s up to the coaching staff to figure that out before September.
