Round two was a success for Michigan State basketball as it beat Marquette 69-60 to advance to the  Sweet 16 for the second time in the past four tournaments.

Michigan State’s toughness was on full display as Mady Sissoko, Malik Hall, and Joey Hauser were grabbing crucial rebounds and Tyson Walker was making big-time shots.

This team is firing on all cylinders right now and it feels like it hasn’t even reached its full potential yet.

Let’s hand out grades from Sunday night’s win.

Mady Sissoko: A-

This was one of Mady Sissoko’s best games of the season and it felt like he was back in the first month of the season, dominating against Oscar Tshiebwe and Drew Timme.

Sissoko was 3-for-3 from the floor with eight points, but it was his defense and rebounding that really changed the game. He had two huge blocks in the second half that helped seal the win and he grabbed 10 rebounds. He also had active hands in the post, recording two steals.

Although he had four fouls, some of them were questionable and his defense in the post made a difference. Mady made sure one of the best points-in-the-paint teams was forced to score primarily from the perimeter.
