Michigan State basketball is coming off its worst loss of the season. No, a loss at Iowa wasn’t shocking or disappointing, but the fashion in which it happened was. The Spartans blew a 13-point lead with 90 seconds left and lost in overtime, giving up 112 points.

Now, the Spartans must pick up the pieces for another huge road game against Nebraska and if they can win in Lincoln, they’ll prove just how mentally tough they are.

It’s not going to be easy, however, as Fred Hoiberg’s team is playing its best basketball in years and Tom Izzo called the Cornhuskers the hottest team in the Big Ten.

Let’s get into some bold predictions ahead of Tuesday night’s game.

3. We see another Jaxon Kohler breakout game

I feel like I’ve been predicting this for weeks now and he showed some breakout ability against Indiana, but Jaxon Kohler hasn’t had a true breakout performance since he had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks against Rutgers.

He’s due.

Kohler is going to play some big minutes off the bench with Mady Sissoko in foul trouble early and he’s going to finish with 11 points and eight rebounds, showing the rest of the Big Ten what he’s capable of.

We are looking at one of the better freshmen in the Big Ten who has a high ceiling but has barely even scratched the surface. Tuesday night will feature a huge game for his career development and he’ll show off those impressive post moves to the tune of a double-digit scoring night.
