This past weekend was rough for Michigan State basketball fans. They watched in horror as Iowa made all nightmares come to fruition, storming back from down 13 with a minute left to shock the Spartans and send the game into overtime where they eventually won.

It was a shocking loss and it sent a lot of fans into a spiral of hot takes.

Fans were calling out Tom Izzo, saying the season was done, and just saying anything and everything that came to mind, whether true or not — mostly untrue.

But the fact of the matter is this: Michigan State was the better team on Saturday afternoon for 39 minutes and just couldn’t close it out. That should at least be somewhat encouraging.

OK, I tried to cheer you up.

Still, Michigan State is good enough to beat anyone but inconsistent enough to lose to just about anyone as well (Notre Dame).

And Izzo had a message for fans on Monday.

Izzo has message for Michigan State basketball fans

It would have been easy to give up on the Spartans after Saturday’s debacle and I’ve even seen some fans say they won’t be watching for the rest of the season, but Izzo has a message for those people.

You have to love seeing Izzo say something like that after what happened on Saturday. The team was just gutted after the loss and they felt worse than any fan out there but for Izzo to come out and say this, he must know that the Spartans are resilient and won’t let this Iowa game define the season or crush them.

We should all take Izzo’s advice and keep believing in this team.
